Life Time Fitness, a Minnesota-based company with 130 locations in 27 states, decided recently to remove cable news from large-screen TVs in its gyms.
The company said in a statement the decision was based on member requests and to provide family-oriented environment free of polarizing or politically charged content.
The decision drew mixed feedback. Some people praised the removal for making the gym an escape from the world. Other critics claim the chain is exercising unjust censorship.
At the moment, Life Time Fitness seems to be the only one in pursuit of healthier entertainment.
