$9 Billion Wildfire Insurance Claims

 

More than $9 billion in insurance claims have been filed following the wildfires that ravaged Northern California during October.

The fires burned across wine country taking the lives of 44 people, making them the deadliest in state history.

More than 18,000 homes in the Sonoma County, where entire neighborhoods were destroyed, have filed claims for full or partial loses.

The state has assisted over 2,000 people with insurance questions and disputes.

Meanwhile, the FBI announced it created a task force with state and local agencies to investigate potential fraud in wildfire relief efforts.
