Amoeba Records, once the largest store in America that specialized in used CD’s and vinyl’s, marked its 20th anniversary on November 16th.
In the era of music streaming, Amoeba’s unexpected savior is the growing vinyl trend among youngsters which has become a major source of revenue.
During its heyday in the early 2000’s, Amoeba once sold over 10,000 records on a single Saturday.
By their 25th anniversary, partner-manager Joe Goldmark expects half the store to be vinyls an believes that CD’s will have a similar comeback as vinyls.
