Campbell Soup Getting Into Snacks

Campbell Soup is hoping the snack business is just as “M’M! M’M! Good.”

The iconic soup maker purchased snack giant Snyder’s-Lance for $6.1 billion.

The company says it’s integrating the Pepperidge Farm and Snyder’s-Lance portfolios to create Campbell Snacks.

Well-known Snyder’s-Lance snacks include, sandwich crackers, Hanover pretzels and Cape Cod chips.

The company hopes to become a “major contender in the $89 billion U.S. snacking market.”

Snacks will now make up about 47 percent of Campbell’s annual sales.

Soup sales are expected to cool from 34 percent to 26 percent.
