DOJ Threatens Sanctuary Cities

The DOJ threatened to subpoena 23 jurisdictions if they don’t release information about their “sanctuary” policies.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said, “I continue to urge all jurisdictions under review to reconsider policies that place the safety of their communities and residents at risk.”

The threat drew heated responses from Democratic mayors, who boycotted a planned working session with the president at the White House.

The jurisdictions funding could be withheld and the DOJ can demand the return of 2016 federal funding the cities have already received.
