The number of people committing suicide off of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco has decreased after the addition of five more patrol officers.
The security detail of 36 officers assisted 245 people who presented a risk of suicide and there were 33 confirmed suicides.
In 2016, there were 184 successful interventions and 39 suicides.
The bridge district plans to install heavy duty nets along the 1.7 mile span and say the project should be completed by January 2021.
