Hundreds of protestors rallied to support Colin Kaepernick outside the NFL headquarters.
Kaepernick who once took the 49ers to the Super Bowl, opted out of his contract with the team in march and remains unsigned.
The former quarterback stirred controversy last year for sitting or kneeling during the national anthem in protest against the treatment of black Americans.
Supporters claim he is being pushed out because of his political actions.
