McDonald’s Fresh Over Frozen

McDonald’s is shaking up the fast-food world by offering fresh beef burgers, opting to shelve frozen patties in some menu items.

Fresh burgers are on the menu in 3,500 restaurants, and the company plans to expand to 14,000 locations by May.

While McDonald’s popular Quarter Pounder and signature crafted burgers are getting the fresh make-over, the Big Mac will still be shipped frozen.

“The switch to fresh-beef quarter-pound burgers is the most significant change to our system and restaurant operations since All-Day Breakfast,” says McDonald’s U.S. president, Chris Kempczinski.

The business leaders under the Golden Arches promise the switch will not affect wait times for customers.

This is McDonald’s latest attempt to shake its junk-food image by offering better quality ingredients.

Earlier this year, the company announced it is eliminating cheeseburgers and chocolate milk from Happy Meals this summer.

McDonald’s is the world’s largest food chain, serving five billion burgers world-wide each year.
