NBC Fires Matt Lauer Over Sexual Misconduct Allegations

NBC News fired “Today” anchor Matt Lauer after a detailed compaint about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.

Lauer’s co-host Savannah Guthrie, announced the news the following morning on the “Today” show.

In a memo to employees, NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack said the complain promoted a serious review and represented a “clear violation of our company’s standards.”

Lauer’s termination adds him to the list of other television news stars brought down by allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior.

Other high-profile anchors include Bill O’Reilly, fired by Fox News last April and Charlie Rose, fired by CBS earlier in November.

NBC had also fired senior vice president of booking, Matt Zimmerman, for inappropriate conduct with women at the network a few weeks prior.
