Protestors Greet Trump as he Visits California

Supporters and protesters welcome President Trump during his first visit to California as commander-in-chief.

Anti-Trump protesters gathered near downtown San Diego where they blasted the president’s longtime plan for a southern border wall.

During the rally, protesters urged the president to “build bridges, not walls.”

President Trump viewed border wall prototypes during his Golden State tour.

The presidential visit comes as his administration spars with California leaders over border security and immigration policies, including its sanctuary laws.

In a tweet fired off before touching down, the president wrote, “California’s sanctuary policies are illegal and unconstitutional and put the safety and security of our entire nation at risk.”

In a letter sent to the president, Governor Jerry Brown wrote, “California thrives because we welcome immigrants and innovators from across the globe.”
