On Wednesday House Republicans proposed a hardline immigration measure that would crack down on illegal immigration and sharply reduce the number of legal immigrants to the United States.
The proposal clashed with President Trump’s remarks on Tuesday to open a clear pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.
President Trump backed up his position on Wednesday in a press conference, saying any immigration deal with Congress has to include the wall.
The clock is ticking for Dreamers. The Trump administration announced to end an Obama-era bill to give legal status to Dreamers on March 5th.
